Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
