Republicans in the state of California filed a federal lawsuit this Wednesday, challenging a significant redistricting initiative that could flip as many as five House seats for Democrats.
The measure, the ballot measure, received approval by voters on Tuesday evening, marking a decisive victory for the Democratic side. The plan is a direct response to gerrymandering in the state of Texas, where GOP lawmakers, at the US president’s behest, have carved out a number of new safe Republican districts.
