Law enforcement have released shocking footage showing a driver executing dangerous skidding techniques on a roundabout during an unauthorized car meet, putting spectators at significant risk of injury.
A 23-year-old from Southampton received a jail term of 27 weeks, suspended for one year, after admitting to dangerous driving.
Additionally, the court issued a 12-month driving ban and mandated community service along with a behavioral course.
According to police officials, the recording was filmed at an unauthorized automobile gathering in the city on 28 December 2024, featuring the driver driving a distinctive colored vehicle.
“The video shows the alarming incident when a reckless driver drifted around a traffic circle at an illegal car meet, while crowds watched despite the danger of serious injury.”
Police representatives stated that more than 200 offences related to illegal car meets in the region have been handled in approximately 12 months.
Notable figures from the enforcement effort include:
An officer remarked: “Local people, drivers and our roads policing teams have had enough with these crowds of motorists thoughtlessly taking over public roads and car parks and we will not tolerate it.”
The officer continued: “These events are not only a total disturbance, but they also place participants and innocent bystanders at danger of serious injury.”
He finished: “We will continue to prosecute these drivers and I hope these recent cases act as a caution: you will face consequences.”
