Jude Bellingham Functioned in an advanced spot out wide and did plenty of defensive duties. Displayed moments of class but mishit an effort wide. Replaced in the closing stages for Rogers, his rival, after being booked. 7

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s best chance before halftime, his shot well saved by the opposing goalkeeper. With a teammate hanging back, he was forced to provide width down the right side yet his deliveries from wide areas varied in quality. Replaced for the final quarter-hour. Six

The captain The decisive figure with his seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth strikes at international level. The first a trademark opportunist's goal and the second a classy header following a clever run away from the opposition. At 32, his form is unwavering and England have every chance in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. 8/10
