Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who jumped a fence and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral video depicts the Australian man shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the performers walked down a yellow carpet flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was set to appear on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed includes recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user remarked.
Many supporters accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said one more response on Instagram.
Several attendees also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while some requested online networks to block Mr Wen's videos.
In videos circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had assembled in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a dual version of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a spin-off of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored a dozen Oscar nominations, securing several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
